Looking at life...

What would happen if everyone looked at what they had and what they did and how it would affect everyone around them? Most people will only seem to look to a small part of their future, only looking at potential problems.  These people, if they were to look to the future, realizing that life isn't about problems, but about what they do is what defines them, and creates who they are.  Wouldn't that help solve depression?
